World Bank's Neelkanth Mishra hits back at GDP data skeptics
Neelkanth Mishra, who serves as India's Executive Director at the World Bank, has rejected arguments suggesting that the 7.8% GDP growth reported for Q1 FY27 was primarily a result of base revisions. He labeled such claims as "ill-educated and egregiously wrong." According to Mishra, the updated series has actually bolstered the reliability of real output projections. Even so, he acknowledged that the economy is still experiencing some level of underperformance.
