Jammu and Kashmir’s inaugural all-female birding collective, the 15-member Salim Ali Birdwatchers Network, has successfully rehabilitated delicate local wetlands. By restoring these habitats, they have encouraged the return of one lakh migratory birds. The group dedicates their weekends to cleaning up waste, unblocking water channels, and tracking the quality of the water. This project was launched to provide more avenues for women to engage in the field of ornithology.
