WHO labels DR Congo Ebola crisis a global emergency

The World Health Organization has declared that the Ebola situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to be a global health emergency. Currently, there are more than 5,000 verified cases and 2,378 fatalities reported throughout six provinces. The WHO cautioned that the Bundibugyo virus is moving at an "unprecedented speed" and noted that there are still unknown paths of infection. At present, researchers are evaluating experimental treatments and vaccines.
