West Bengal sets up 9-person committee to review UCC draft
The government of West Bengal has established a committee consisting of nine members to review and complete the draft of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill. Led by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, the group includes eight additional members, such as ex-Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy. It is anticipated that the state government will introduce the bill to the Legislative Assembly this coming August.
