Wales para-athlete Bowen, who battled flesh-eating disease, set to participate in CWG
Wales para-athlete Ellie Bowen, a seated shot-putter, is in Scotland's Glasgow to represent her country at the Commonwealth Games 2026. She was diagnosed with necrotising fasciitis, a rare but severe flesh-eating bacterial infection that destroys tissue beneath the skin, when she was just 13 months old. The 17-year-old survived the illness but underwent an amputation of her right leg.
