Volkswagen's chief executive, Oliver Blume, has suggested that the company might reduce its global workforce by approximately 50,000 positions. According to an internal memo obtained by Reuters, Blume explained that these reductions may be necessary to address a 20% cost gap relative to international rivals. This follows an announcement made earlier this year regarding Volkswagen's intention to eliminate 50,000 roles within Germany by the year 2030.
