US faces outbreak of parasite causing severe diarrhoea
A parasitic infection known for causing explosive diarrhoea has reached 17 states across the US. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 145 individuals ranging from five to 86 years old have been impacted by the outbreak. The parasite, identified as Cyclospora cayetanensis, results in cyclosporiasis. This foodborne condition is characterized by symptoms such as explosive diarrhoea, intense abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, and exhaustion.
