US court permits Meta job cuts despite disability discrimination claims
A federal judge in the US has denied a request to halt Meta's upcoming layoffs. The legal challenge was brought by 26 staff members who argued that the company's AI-based selection system unfairly singled out employees with disabilities or those on medical leave. The workforce reductions are scheduled to commence on July 22. In the ruling, the judge noted that the plaintiffs did not demonstrate the level of irreparable harm required to justify an emergency injunction.
