US clears $5 billion weapons deal for Saudi Arabia
The United States has given the green light to a possible $5 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia. The deal consists of 5,004 KMU-572 JDAM guidance kits and 5,000 bombs weighing 2,000 pounds each, plus necessary fuzes and technical assistance. Additionally, the US authorized a separate potential sale of AGT-1500 engines valued at $750 million. According to the US State Department, this proposed transaction will not negatively affect the defense readiness of the United States.
