UP judge hands down 22 death sentences in four months
In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar has sentenced 22 individuals to death across 10 separate cases over the last four months. Previously, he issued 13 capital punishments while stationed in Bareilly, bringing his total career count to 35. According to Indian legal procedures, any death penalty issued by a sessions court must be confirmed by the High Court before it can be carried out.
