UP: Illegal pan masala and tobacco maker caught for ₹185 crore tax evasion
An unauthorized pan masala and tobacco production operation running out of six unregistered locations in Uttar Pradesh has been caught dodging ₹185 crore in GST, HSNS Cess, and Central Excise duty. The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) Lucknow Zonal Unit confiscated 15,50,922 pouches of tobacco and pan masala, along with raw materials and 27 hidden packing machines. The owner of the business has been taken into custody.
