UP government to appeal HC ruling on Noida DM compensation for activist
The Uttar Pradesh administration has informed the Supreme Court of its plan to contest an Allahabad High Court directive. The order had instructed the Noida district magistrate to pay ₹5 lakh in compensation to an activist, with the amount to be deducted from the official's own salary. This compensation was granted by the High Court following the activist's preventive detention under the National Security Act. She had been held in custody for approximately five months in connection with a protest by workers in Noida.
