An investigation by Dainik Bhaskar has uncovered that certain flour mills in Uttar Pradesh are blending powdered white stone into branded atta distributed nationwide to increase their earnings. According to mill staff, it is standard practice to adulterate the flour by up to 10%, which generates approximately ₹140 in additional profit per quintal. One operator further asserted that this practice does not alter the flavor of the rotis prepared from the tainted flour.
