The Jestha Varna Mahavihar monastery, located near Kathmandu, Nepal, was honored with the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation this Thursday. The site, which dates back to the 17th century, had been severely impacted by the 2015 earthquake before being rebuilt with help from India. During the ceremony, UNESCO representative to Nepal, Jaco Du Toit, presented the award plaque and certificate to the monastery's management committee.
