UEFA member nations threaten FIFA boycott over private equity proposal
All 55 UEFA member associations have reached a unanimous decision to stop participating in FIFA events if President Gianni Infantino moves forward with selling a minority share in a new entity that manages commercial rights for tournaments, such as the World Cup. FIFA is looking to secure $4.2 billion by offloading more than 20% of the $20-billion project to private backers. UEFA has insisted that the plan be scrapped completely.
