Uber slapped with ₹9,216 crore penalty for automated driver suspensions
According to a Reuters report, the Dutch Data Protection Authority has issued an €825 million (₹9,216 crore) fine against Uber. The company was penalized for using automated systems to suspend drivers without giving them sufficient notice. This penalty stands as the second-highest ever issued under European data protection regulations, trailing only the €1.2-billion fine handed to Meta by Ireland last year. Dutch authorities have prohibited the use of computer algorithms for making decisions that significantly affect individuals' lives.
