Uber and Ola continue to solicit pre-ride tips, ignoring government guidelines
According to a Financial Express report, ride-hailing platforms Uber and Ola are continuing to prompt passengers for tips before their rides are even confirmed. This persists despite a government advisory requesting the removal of these features. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has stated that tipping must be a voluntary act performed only once a trip has concluded. The ministry further noted that these pre-ride prompts might lead users to believe that paying an extra amount could result in better service.
