Two years of college was plenty, says OpenAI's Sam Altman on dropping out
Reflecting on his personal journey, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman suggested that spending four years at a university might not always be the most valuable use of a young person's time. He mentioned that a couple of years provided him with everything he required, and remaining there any longer would probably have yielded fewer benefits. Altman discontinued his studies at Stanford in 2005 to start Loopt, a company that subsequently became part of the inaugural batch at Y Combinator.
