Two Iranian female players who skipped national anthem receive Australian citizenship
Australia has officially provided citizenship to a pair of Iranian soccer players who requested asylum. Fatemeh Pasandideh and Atefeh Ramezanisadeh chose not to sing the Iranian national anthem during a protest prior to a Women's Asian Cup game this past March. While seven Iranian players were originally issued humanitarian visas by Australia, the other five individuals eventually decided to head back to their home country.
