Tomato farmers protest against Nepal PM Balen Shah
Following recent demonstrations by Gen Z, Nepal’s Prime Minister Balen Shah is now dealing with protests from tomato growers. The farmers claim that the government has failed to offer adequate subsidies. Reports indicate that wholesale rates for local tomatoes have fallen to between ₹8 and ₹12 per kg. The protesters also alleged that the Shah administration is favoring policies that encourage imports rather than backing local farming.
