Three Commonwealth Games weightlifting winners to vie for 53kg Olympic spot
National coach Vijay Sharma confirmed that Commonwealth Games 2026 weightlifting medal winners Mirabai Chanu, Gyaneshwari Yadav, and Bindyarani Devi will battle for India’s single available spot in the women’s 53kg category for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The competition will feature women’s weight classes at 53kg, 61kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg, and over 86kg. At the 2026 CWG, Chanu secured gold in the 48kg division, while Gyaneshwari and Bindyarani took home silver in the 53kg and bronze in the 58kg categories, respectively.
