Tech giants Microsoft, Amazon and Google see carbon emissions rival a European country
The combined carbon footprint of Microsoft, Amazon and Google climbed by almost 20% over the last year, hitting 119 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent (mTCO2e). This figure is roughly one-third of France's emissions for FY26. In the prior year, these companies produced 101 million mTCO2e, a level comparable to the 2024 emissions of Czechia. This rise is primarily driven by the building of additional data centers.
