According to a Bloomberg report, residents living near Lake Magadi are divided on whether Tata Chemicals should remain in the area after Kenyan President William Ruto told the company to "pack and go" for failing to provide enough local benefits. The firm currently supports four schools in the impoverished region, operates a hospital, and provides clean water. Additionally, Tata runs a train service that transports passengers over long distances for a fare of ₹30.
