Aswath S, a chess talent hailing from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, has officially reached the status of India's 98th Grandmaster. The teenager secured his concluding GM norm while competing at the 2026 Pune International Grandmaster Round Robin event. By the end of the tournament, he had tallied seven points across nine rounds, finishing in second place with a record of six victories, two draws, and a single defeat.
