Starting Tuesday, the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department has officially prohibited the use of mobile phones within major temples throughout the state. This decision was made in response to orders from the Madras High Court, prompted by concerns over visitors recording videos and taking photos inside sacred areas. To accommodate visitors, the temples have set up specific counters where mobile devices can be left for a fee of ₹5 each.
