Surge in young SIP investors: Under-20 accounts jump 92% in FY26

A growing number of young Indians are opting for SIPs to grow their savings. Data from CAMS reveals that the number of SIP accounts owned by individuals under 20 spiked by 92% to reach 2.9 lakh during FY26. Meanwhile, the 20-30 age group saw a 15% increase, bringing their total to 85.5 lakh accounts. Beyond standard funds, younger investors are showing interest in gold and silver SIPs, while flexi-cap funds continue to see strong demand on platforms such as Groww.
