Surat resident receives 4.5-year prison term in US for fentanyl trafficking
A Brooklyn federal court has handed a 54-month prison sentence to 37-year-old Bhavesh Ranchhodbhai Lathiya, the owner of the Surat-based firm Raxuter Chemicals. Lathiya was found guilty of illegally shipping fentanyl precursor chemicals into the United States by mislabeling the packages as antacids and vitamin C. Along with the jail time, he is required to forfeit $24,560 and will face deportation back to India once his sentence concludes in March 2031.
