Supreme Court rejects NCLT rulings for using fake AI-generated citations
The Supreme Court has overturned decisions made by the NCLT and NCLAT regarding an insolvency case involving Essel Infraprojects. The court discovered that these rulings were based on fabricated and non-existent legal precedents created by artificial intelligence. Describing the situation as similar to the toxic substance methyl isocyanide, the top court stated, "Invisible, insidious, and catastrophic, by the time anyone notices...[it] takes away the very lifeline of judicial determination."
