Supreme Court imposes ₹5 lakh fine on actress and lawyer for 'luxury litigation'
The Supreme Court has ordered actress Rehana Khan and lawyer Rizwan Siddique to pay a penalty of ₹5 lakh each. The bench remarked that such 'luxury litigation' hinders the progress of legitimate legal matters. The court noted that the pair has consumed the resources of the Bar Council of India, a High Court, and the Supreme Court itself for over 11 years, stating that this time should have been reserved for other people waiting for justice.
