Study: Seminal fluid helps monkeypox virus enter cells

A study conducted by experts at Goethe University and Universitätsmedizin Frankfurt reveals that semen can assist in the spread of the monkeypox (mpox) virus. Through lab testing, the team discovered that specific protein fragments found in seminal fluid create fibers that allow the virus to more easily latch onto and penetrate human cells. The researchers noted that these results may provide insight into why sexual activity is a major factor in the transmission of mpox.
