A team of researchers in Japan discovered that individuals aged 110 and above, known as supercentenarians, maintain an exceptionally high count of specific immune cells identified as CD4 cytotoxic T lymphocytes, which are capable of destroying abnormal cells. The findings indicate that these rare immune cells keep growing and adjusting even in people of advanced age. To reach this conclusion, the scientists examined blood specimens from 28 participants divided into three categories: those aged 70-99, 100-109, and those 110 or older.
