Study: Plastic waste transformed into battery-grade graphite
A team at Penn State has successfully turned discarded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic into high-quality, crystalline graphite. This newly created graphite features larger and more structured crystals compared to the natural graphite currently sold on the market. This discovery offers a potential solution to the rising need for battery-grade graphite in sectors like electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and personal electronics.
