SPPU employee accused of selling fake degree for ₹3 lakh; investigation launched
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has initiated an investigation following allegations that a staff member sold a fraudulent BCom degree to the son of a rickshaw driver for ₹3 lakh. The incident occurred when the driver went to the university to inquire about higher education options and was approached by the employee with the offer of a fake certificate. The scheme was uncovered after the documents were found to be issued under the name "University of Pune" rather than SPPU, leading to a formal complaint being filed with the Vice-Chancellor's office.
