Space photos of 9/11 aftermath reappear after 25 years
As the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York arrives, striking images of the event taken from orbit have emerged again. NASA astronaut Frank Culbertson took pictures of a large trail of smoke rising from Manhattan while aboard the International Space Station. Positioned roughly 400 km above the planet, Culbertson was the sole American located off-Earth at the time of the tragedy.
