Singapore home burglaries climb 25% even as total crime stays steady
Police statistics show that residential theft in Singapore jumped by 25.1% during the first half of 2026, reaching 450 cases compared to 367 during the same period last year. Authorities noted that this increase was primarily caused by incidents where the perpetrators were already familiar with or had authorized access to the homes. While overall physical crime rates held steady, reports of shoplifting saw a slight increase of 2.2%, totaling 2,095 cases.
