Senegal football boss claims coach demanded raise and threatened to skip World Cup
Abdoulaye Fall, the president of the Senegal Football Federation, stated that head coach Pape Thiaw asked for a pay hike ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and warned he would not make the trip if he did not get it. Fall claimed that Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye eventually persuaded the coach to go. Furthermore, Fall noted that Thiaw declined to take his spot on the bench for the game against Norway until his contract was officially signed.
