Second-century Roman firefighting station unearthed in Italy
In Italy, researchers have uncovered a structure dating back to the second century that likely served as a base for ancient Roman firefighters. So far, experts have cleared five out of the eight total rooms. The site features designs and imagery similar to a barracks for firefighters that was identified earlier. Among the findings, the team discovered a mosaic showing a dolphin, fish, crab, and lobster arranged around a large two-handled vase.
