SDF merges into Syrian army, ending its role as a separate force
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by Kurds, is no longer operating as an independent military unit following its merger with the Syrian national army. Commander Mazloum Abdi stated that the situation has shifted, noting that the nation has moved into a new era defined by peace. Established in 2015 with support from the United States, the SDF had previously united Arab and Kurdish combatants to battle ISIS.
