Saved 8,000 km away, rare sea turtle brought back to Texas
In 2023, a sea turtle named Rhossi was discovered close to death in icy waters off Wales. He has now been transported 8,000 km by air to Texas for further rehabilitation. Rhossi belongs to the Kemp's ridley species, which is among the most endangered sea turtles globally and originates from the warm Gulf of Mexico. Currently, the turtle is recuperating and building up his strength at the Houston Zoo.
