Russian intelligence reportedly smuggling Japanese tech for weapons
According to a New York Times report, a Russian espionage network has been active in Japan, illicitly funneling advanced Japanese parts into Russia to support its arms production via third-party nations. Members of Russia's 20th Directorate military intelligence unit have allegedly disguised themselves as diplomats or corporate representatives in Japan to secure this hardware. While many of these items are marketed for commercial use, they are capable of being repurposed for military applications.
