Retired activist receives jail time following anti-AI demonstration
A 69-year-old protester has been sent to jail for her involvement in a demonstration at OpenAI’s San Francisco office, marking the first time someone has been imprisoned for an anti-AI protest. Wynd Kaufmyn, a retired educator, turned herself in following her conviction related to the February 2025 StopAI rally. During the event, protesters obstructed the entrances to OpenAI to voice their opposition to the ongoing push for artificial superintelligence.
