Researchers use CRISPR to breed hypoallergenic beagles
In the US, scientists have successfully produced twin beagles that do not cause allergies by utilizing CRISPR gene-editing tools. The team deactivated the specific gene that generates the proteins responsible for allergic reactions. By modifying canine skin cells and inserting the altered genetic material into eggs, they were able to implant them into a surrogate mother. Currently, the researchers are observing the dogs to ensure their long-term well-being and are working on ways to make this breeding process more affordable.
