A new study in the journal 'Evolution' has explained why dinosaurs never became as small as mice. Researchers proposed that early mammals, which were mostly the size of shrews, had already successfully occupied the ecological roles for tiny creatures, leaving very little opportunity for dinosaurs to evolve into such small sizes. Notably, some of the tiniest dinosaurs, like the Microraptor, were still around the size of a crow.
