Research reveals pregnancy alters brain structure differently with every child
A study conducted by the Amsterdam University Medical Centre has discovered that a woman's brain undergoes unique transformations with each successive pregnancy. During an initial pregnancy, the most significant neurological shifts were observed in the Default Mode Network, which is associated with self-reflection and social interaction. While brain changes were less pronounced during a second pregnancy, they specifically impacted networks related to attention. Additionally, the research noted that the bond between mother and child is strengthened following the first pregnancy.
