Research reveals Egypt's desert was once a thriving sea 145 million years ago
A research project headed by Cairo University palaeontologist Tarek Yassin has discovered that Egypt's desert landscape was home to a vibrant marine environment between 145 million and 66 million years ago. The team analyzed 14 shark teeth fossils representing seven distinct species found at the Abu-Tartur Plateau in Egypt. Experts noted that these seven species originated from various eras within that timeframe.
