Remembering S Janaki, the 'Nightingale of South India'
Legendary playback singer S Janaki, famously called the 'Nightingale of South India', died on July 11 in Mysuru. Over her impressive 60-year career, she sang close to 48,000 tracks across various languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Her contributions were recognized with the Padma Bhushan in 2013, and she also secured four National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer.
