Pingali Venkayya was an Indian independence activist who created the initial design for the national flag, known as the Tricolour. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, he also worked as a lecturer, agriculturist, and geologist. His early flag concepts for the nation eventually served as the foundation for the version officially accepted in 1947. Even with this significant achievement, he spent much of his life without widespread recognition.
