Red alert issued by IMD for 'extremely heavy rainfall' in Mumbai over next 2 days
On Friday, a red alert was issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad for July 4 and 5, cautioning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. At the same time, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that ongoing rains have boosted Mumbai's drinking water reserves, with the seven lakes that supply water to the city currently at 8.93% of their useful storage capacity.
