Nirmal Purja, the climber who famously scaled all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks in just 189 days in 2019, has died on Broad Peak. His record-shattering feat at the time easily beat the previous mark of nearly eight years. Purja was among a group of 10 climbers who disappeared earlier this week following an avalanche on the mountain, which ranks as the 12th highest globally.
