The Reserve Bank of India has implemented stricter regulations for loan recovery, prohibiting banks and their agents from engaging in abuse, public humiliation, or threats toward borrowers. Effective January 1, 2027, recovery agents are restricted to making calls or visits between 8 am and 7 pm, unless the borrower has explicitly agreed to a different schedule. Additionally, agents are strictly forbidden from using intimidating tactics or threatening the borrower's family, personal property, or social standing.
